One year ago today AniMAASity was born. The blog started out slowwith only a few readers and then each week it got bigger and bigger. Today an average of 100 people read the blog on any given day and some days we hit the 300 -500 number. That’s a lot of people! When I write it’s mainly for those of you who hit the “like” button or comment. I pretend we are all sitting around a table, drinking coffee and discussing whatever the topic of the day might be. The fact that a lot of “strangers” read aniMAASity too is perfectly okay with me, the more the merrier but sometimes I have to delete some creepy comments and God knows a lot of spammers have hit on the site.
One guy told me he was a writer and having problems describing a
scene. He asked me to describe (in my words) what I thought it would feel like to choke someone. I fell for this, and thought I was helping him out. But the questions kept coming like how big my hands were and if there would be spit on my hand while holding it over someone’s mouth. He wanted to know how tall I was and how strong. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that he was a pervert with some strange sexual issues. I felt burned and stupid for trying to help him. There were other times I got burned too but I learned a lot in my first year.
The whole purpose of starting the blog was to promote my book but
the blog has done much more for me than just that. I’ve made a lot of new friends and even connected with some old friends. Blogging is also a great opportunity for me to “practice” writing and on the plus side I get so say what I want to say and everyone knows by now that I am very opinionated. Some people comment on the blog page, some on Facebook, some on Twitter, some send me emails or text messages and some even call me. I love comments!
Over the past year I am proud to announce that I’ve only had to delete one blog. A situation occurred in Iowa City where a heavy girl was asked not to dance on a platform at a bar. It was a very controversial situation. I blogged about obese girls in Iowa and got hammered by
comments. People took what I said out of context. I feared I might get my ass kicked so I deleted it before things got too out of hand.
Other than that I think we had a nice mix of blogs ranging from everyday topics to some strange and unusual.
If you ever find a topic you would like me to write about just let me know. Book two is complete so you’ll be hearing plenty about that like
the release date, book signings, the cover and all the other stuff that comes along with publishing a book. And of course we can’t just let book one die so I’ll still talk about that from time to time too.
In closing I would like to thank all of you! You inspire me to write the blogs. Coming up with topics isn’t always easy but no matter what I
write – even if it sucks, you are still out there cheering me on and I really
appreciate that. I love you guys.
