I’ve was watching Discovery shows last week as it was Shark Week! The shock and awe displayed was amazing and I felt like I wasn’t wasting my time because it’s Discovery – I thought I would be learning new things. I love facts but the fact is most of what I watched wasn’t real. TJ feel asleep during the Megalodon program and I couldn’t wait for morning so I could explain the huge shark that jumped out of the water and grabbed the whale. After all it was LIVE footage, it had to be real.
Hubby wasn’t so receptive. “It’s not real Tam, why do you believe that stuff?” I thought he was a fool for not believing and couldn’t wait for him to see the LIVE footage. We watched it with the kids too, they certainly would believe it was real. But they didn’t. “That even LOOKS fake Mom, that’s not real.” TJ just shook his head. “I thought you would have learned your lesson after the Mermaid show.”
Don’t even get me started on the Mermaid show. I watched the Mermaid show several times before I could convince myself that it wasn’t real. I was bound and determined to prove everyone wrong, it seemed so real and convincing. But I couldn’t find ANYTHING to prove that it was real. After the lashing Discovery took for airing that show I figured they would never lie again. Silly me.
After looking further into it, most everything I saw on Shark Week was fake. Except for the guy that could put sharks into a trance by touching their nose. Shark tipping! That was cool and is definitely on my list of things to do if I ever get attacked by a shark. But would anybody believe me if I said I got attacked by a shark and put it into a trance to stop the attack?
So thank you Discovery Channel for making a grown woman feel stupid for believing you. And you can kiss my ass because I’m never watching your channel again.
#100shittydays Shit Week
The past seven days have been so shitty that I haven’t even had time to document them! Last Saturday I took Mac to the doctor, she had Tonsillitis. On Monday Will said he had a sore throat so I took him to the doctor. He was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. When I got home Mac’s school called and told me to come and get her because she had a stomach ache. On Thursday Will’s school called and told me to come and get him because he was having trouble breathing. I took him to the doctor again and this time he had an ear infection. On Friday when he got home from school he was running a temp. He was sick on Saturday and on Sunday so I took him to the doctor again. (4th trip to the doctor in eight days!) He was diagnosed with strep throat. So today is Monday and he’s home from school but feeling much better. What a shitty week. I swear to God they must spend the first few days of school playing in the toilet and rubbing spit all over each other!
