I’m sure you already know where I’m going with this one. I don’t
pay much attention to the political mumbo jumbo on television these days but while watching Bill Maher the other night I learned some pretty interesting things about Mormons. From the outside looking in, I’m sure people think Catholics are a strange group too with some of our customs and traditions but I was fascinated and intrigued with some of the Mormon beliefs;
Magic Underwear – Mormons don’t call them magic, in fact they
don’t say much about them at all because they believe their underwear is sacred. Basically it’s a very ugly, non-sexy, white cotton undergarment that must be worn day and night by both males and females that have been to the temple. The underwear serves as a reminder that they should only have sex with their spouse. Children are not allowed to show the skin on their shoulders so when they get older they are ready for these temple garments. Every time I look at Mitt now, I try NOT to image what he has on under his suit.
Plant Kolob – Mormons believe there is an undiscovered planet
called Kolob that sits near God. Enough said.
Drinks – Mormons do not drink warm or hot beverages including COFFEE and they do not drink alcoholic beverages. I would think any person believing in planet Kolob may take a few sips of alcohol
now and then but I guess not.
So anyway I have nothing against Mormons, I just don’t think I
know any and I don’t know much about the religion. So far watching the South Park episode on Mormons was the most enlightening and entertaining research I have done. The link is below if you want to see it.
If you are a Mormon I would love to hear about your magic underwear!
Update from University of Iowa
The University of Iowa is now stating that it was not them that laid the American flag on the ground prior to the presidential visit; it was an outside vendor that was hired for the event by the Obama campaign. The vendor claims there was a sheet of plastic under the flag so it wasn’t touching the ground. That still doesn’t matter as the flag should not
touch anything including merchandise such as a sheet of plastic.
With over 30,000 students and 2,000 staff members why didn’t ONE
person step forward and insist that the flag get picked up? Imagine how cool it would have been if we would have seen a picture of Iowa students holding the flag up so it wasn’t touching the ground.
McKenzie’s Sims character gave birth to a healthy baby boy yesterday. She named him Sam after Sam from Supernatural. Mom and baby are
doing fine but Grandpa is now struggling to care for a baby and a toddler!
Pledge of Allegiance
Friday some discussion ensued via comments regarding the American
Flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. You might find this strange but my children say the Pledge every morning in school and they go to different public schools. We live in a small town and people claim we are a little backwards but that’s one of the positives about living in a small town. I’ll take being called backwards if it means my children get a lesson in
Do your children say the Pledge of Allegiance in school?
Have a wonderful Sunday and GO PACK GO!!!!
