We see bald eagles all the time where we live. They are beautiful, majestic creatures and we love to watch them. At my children’s school’s they even watch the Decorah Eagle Cam. It’s a camera set up in an eagle nest in Decorah Iowa and you can watch real-time, eagles laying eggs, hatching eggs and tending to their eaglets. It’s fascinating to watch. Last year there were over 160 million views on the site. This year the first egg is scheduled to hatch on 3-25.
My daughter and I were talking about the eagles in the car yesterday and she told me she was sad when they turned the TV’s off at school. I was surprised and asked why they weren’t allowed to watch. My daughter told me one of the eagles drug a dead cat up the tree and was eating it and feeding it to the baby eagles. I suppose that would be traumatic to a group of little kids, especially those with pet cats at home. But then again it is the circle of life. Is there an age that’s appropriate for witnessing such things? I think
You can watch the eagles here;
Today I have to go shopping for a few important things I will need this weekend for the book signing. The biggest and best item on my list is candy. I’m thinking Dove Chocolates or Hershey’s Kisses – maybe I can find something with a St. Patrick’s theme. But it doesn’t matter what I buy, I know
for a fact that I will be the person who eats the most. With Betty Jane Candies just a hot, skip and a jump from my booth, it will be a very difficult, trying,
chocolaty time for me.
McKenzie also needs a shoebox for a school project and we don’t have one. What a perfect opportunity, we will buy new sandals today so we have a box for school next week. She also needs soccer socks as the shin guards don’t feel right on bare legs.
First Book Sold
Today I sold my first book that wasn’t Internet related. My neighbor wanted one. She and I have the funniest phone conversations. Usually panic sets in when I see her number come across my phone or she she’s my number because it usually means that one of us forget about early dismissal and didn’t pick the kids up on time. Today I had a missed call from her and I called her back but she didn’t answer, the message I received said her mailbox was full. When she saw my missed call she called me and I informed her about her full mailbox. She said she had emptied it and wondered why I was looking through her
mailbox. She thought I was talking about the mailbox in front of her house! Once we were on the same page we both laughed. I love my neighbors and my
neighborhood. There is nothing complicated about life in this small town.
Have a wonderful Wednesday passengers!
