Now that I’m on the subject of pop, I have to clarify. We have readers all over the place and some may say soda, cola, soft drink or fizzy drink for my English
friends, instead of pop. The word “pop,” and a slight difference in meaning, made for a unique conversation with a stocker in a grocery store one night. I had just moved to Tennessee from Iowa. As he was busily putting cans on the shelf, I asked what I thought was a simple question: “Can you tell me where your pop is?” He looked me up and down, and with a shocked expression on his face he said, “My pop’s home in bed lady, you know my pops?”
Speaking of pop, have you heard about the latest lawsuit against Pepsi Co? A man claims he found a dead mouse in his Mountain Dew and he is suing. Pepsi Co claims the mouse would have turned into a “jelly-like”substance if it were sitting in the chemicals that go into the pop. Wow! Let’s have some squirrel soup with chicken cookies for desert and we can wash it down with some “MouseinDew!”
The PJ Club
Yesterday I was invited to join an exclusive site. It’s called the Pyjama Club. And even though my Word Perfect spell checker is telling me that this is spelled incorrectly, it is not. In England this is how they spell it and that is where the web site originates from. They also spell other words differently like: colour, flavour, honour, harbour, neighbour, rumour, labour and humour. Anyway, this site is for writers who work in their PJ’s. It’s a very cute site and I wrote a nice little poem for my debut. You can check it out here: http://pyjamaclub.blogspot.com.
The kids went back to school today and this is the first time in twelve days that I have been alone. I have them convinced that I am so lonely without them that I resort to talking to a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth syrup so I have some company. Some days I even set it out intentionally so they see it when
they get home. You may think that’s funny, but it’s true! You wouldn’t believe what that awful ketchup bottle is doing to her!
Well it’s time to get cracking. My Russian clients sent me a pile of work and I should be getting my second round of editing soon. Have a super day passengers!
