“Hey, keep it down back there!” Dianne Duwe, Jackie Welter-Mayne and Christy Burbach are singing “99 Bottles of Beer on The Wall” really loud and I’m up here in the driver’s seat with the pedal to the metal listing to trucker songs. When I was a kid I wanted to be a truck driver when I grew up. I even had a T-shirt with a huge Peterbilt truck on the front and Tammy Trucker on the
My topic of the day is regarding the contract I received from my
publishing company. But now that I think about it I really can’t tell you much about it. It wouldn’t be fair to my publisher if I said exactly what I was getting in case other writers who have been or are trying to be published with them read my blog. So I will be very vague. I am getting an advance upon publication, a % of net royalties on paperback and e-book sales and some other really cool perks too!
In addition they are sending me examples of the works of three
different professional artists. Once I choose an artist I get to work with them on the cover. An editor will work with me on the editing piece and a PR Coordinator will be assigned to me for the marketing piece. My book will be available on-line at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and EBay. Because book stores are on the decline, it will be up to the book stores if they want to stock my book on their shelves. They will also purchase an ISBN for my book! That stands for International Standard Book Number. That means my book will have its very own barcode so stores or libraries can stock it.
Lastly, they will send my book to one reviewer of my choice. That
is where I am having problems. I don’t know any book reviews. If you know of any professional book reviewers please share their information with me. I would be forever grateful!
I couldn’t wait to sign the contract! It could have said that I
would get zero profits from the book and that I would have to punch myself in the face every day for thirty-years and I still would have signed it! Just to see my name on the front of a book – my book – will be my dream fulfilled. I hope everyone loves it but if you don’t (I’ll be sad) but I understand that you can’t please everyone. So my goal is just to please the people that make that “best seller” list! Or maybe even impress a movie producer as my book would make an excellent movie. I’m getting carried away now! If you don’t like this book then maybe you will like the NEXT book, the one I am working on right now. The
one I should be working on right now.
Have a good day!
