I get bored easily with making “traditional” Christmas items so I’m always on
the lookout for things that are different and easy. Today I’m going to share
some of my favorite recipes – feel free to reciprocate. If you have a great
recipe that you would like to share with the other passengers on the bus just
e-mail them to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll post on the blog.
Milky Way Fudge
(2) Regular Size Milky Way Bars (Cut into 6 pieces)
(1) Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
(1) Small bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
No need to preheat the oven for this one! In a large bowl add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Milky Way Bars. Microwave for 4 minutes. (Stir after two minutes and watch so it doesn’t boil over.) Next mix in the bag of chocolate chips until melted. Pour into 8X8 pan and let cool. It’s that easy! This is great tasting fudge with its own unique flavor, people love it.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 8-ounce block of cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for sprinkling
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the brown sugar
until it dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble. Stir in vanilla and set
aside to cool.
In a separate bowl, cream the cream cheese and powdered sugar together for 60
seconds. With the mixer on low speed, add in brown sugar and butter mixture. Mix
until combined. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
Garnish with additional mini chocolate chips. Serve with graham crackers. Warning: this is very addictive! Dip the graham crackers into the dip, one taste and your eyes will roll back in your head! It’s that flippen good!
If you are looking for something “fun” to make with kids I have the perfect thing.
Mini Oreo Cookies
Take a mini Oreo and place a dap of frosting on top. Stick another mini Oreo on top of it. Now frost the sides and top. Decorate with sprinkles. These look like tiny cakes when they are completed. They are messy and tedious to make but they are so cute and kids love them.
That’s all for the food blog. Please share if you have a good recipe.
We will be making a stop at the Wal-Mart in Dubuque today passengers; I have to pick up my GLASSES! And I better not hear any “four-eye” jokes when I return!
