Something went wrong during the editing process because I received the manuscript back two days ago and the changes I made during the first round of editing were not included. I sent the document back to the editor and she said she would look into it, that maybe she hit a wrong button and didn’t“accept my changes.”
This morning I received another beautiful glimpse at what the cover will look like, it’s really progressing and fun to watch the different steps an artist takes in doing a book cover. There was just one minor error, my name is: Tammy Haas on the cover! Way to go Haas, nice book!
My husband sent me a text message yesterday, “Well I hope you have “vagina” out of your system now!” Thanks honey, any other words I shouldn’t
use in my blog? I didn’t think so….mission
This morning my five-year old son announced (in between time-outs) that he was going to wear his sister’s ladybug hat to school. My daughter didn’t mind at all, in fact she relished the thought of him with it on. He claimed the kids at school made fun of his “monkey” hat so he didn’t want to wear that one anymore. I assured him that the kids would make MORE fun of him with the ladybug hat than they would with the monkey hat. He disagreed. I then
made the mistake of telling him that the ladybug hat was a “girl” hat. “A ladybug is a bug Mom, why is it a “girl” bug? Aren’t there “boy” ladybugs Mom? And why can girls wear monkey hats or ladybug hats and boys can only wear monkey hats? That’s not fair.”
This is one of those times when a Mom has to dig deep within her mind to come up with a logical explanation. “You are not wearing it because I said so…..and that’s final.” OK so it was a cop out but I couldn’t allow him to wear the hat, I had to protect his little ego even if it meant making him mad. And I really don’t know how a ladybug became a girl thing – is it because it has the word lady in it? Maybe it’s because they are pretty and don’t bite, or sting like other insects? I really don’t know why. I just know that in this house I control the horizontal and I control the vertical and I control who wears the
ladybug hat and it won’t be my son.
I know there are some parents in this day and age that are allowing their children to choose their gender regardless of what private parts they were both with. The schools aren’t aware of the sex of the children and
these kids can dress however they wish and play with whatever type of toys they want to play with. I suppose the boys even wear ladybug hats sometimes. But this mom, or mum, as my English friends say, does not operate on the same circuits as these people. It’s all pretty simple in my mind: A boy is a boy and
a girl is a girl and boys in my house don’t wear ladybug hats! Well not outside anyway.
Phrase of the day: Two Finger Salute
In the US we hold our middle finger up or “flip someone off”as a gesture to let someone know we are not pleased with them. If you see a Brit with two fingers up, in a V shape with palm pointed in his own direction, it has the same meaning. If the palm is pointing in the other direction, he is probably
just ordering two beers.
Run with scissor’s today passengers. (Just make sure they are pointed down!)
