Yesterday the princess had her birthday party at Mindframe Theater in Dubuque. The party was definitely different. We had a small table in the theater that held a huge container of popcorn, and a bottle of hot butter. Each guest was issued a large cup for soda. I think my biggest complaint would be that it was way too dark. I realize we were in a movie theater but I thought that before and after the movie we could have had decent lighting, but we didn’t. The guests were greeted in almost complete darkness. We used cell phones to see. We watched the movie Treasure Buddies, a movie about some little dogs on an adventure.
After the movie everyone stood while we sang happy birthday and then my daughter opened gifts near the center of the theater where there was the best lighting. The combination of the theater style seating arrangement and darkness made things awkward. I enjoy visiting with guests and didn’t really have the opportunity to do this. Pictures didn’t turn out and the video footage was awful. But all and all it worked out and was an okay party. My daughter and the kids loved it so I guess it was a success.
Yesterday I had the golden opportunity to hold my book for the first time. In front of family and friends I opened the package and passed it around. It was my new baby, meeting the family for the first time. It was a moment I will never forget.
Yesterday I received the following blog comment from Randy: Would you rather pay a couple bucks for a woman to have birth control, or pay for her kid’s welfare for 18 years?
My answer to that question would be this: I don’t want to pay for either. Poor people already get free birth control and they still have babies. I can see how providing free birth control to everyone might help some people stay off of welfare but at the same time two wrongs don’t make a right. Having sex is not something a person has to do to survive. As time moves on our society is becoming more accepting of loose values. Everybody wants something for nothing.
Rush apologized for his inappropriate comments yesterday but I still back him. I believe he apologized because he risked losing sponsors, it’s about money, it’s always about money.
Have a fantastic Sunday passengers!
