When my daughter finally decided on a theme for her bedroom I was
terrified. She decided she wanted her room to look like the bedroom in the movie Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure. I’m an okay decorator but I’m a tightwad when it comes to purchasing new materials so I had to think pink because that’s what Sharpay’s room is all about.
I stated with my old stand-by, spray paint. I went through 11 cans! I spray painted wicker chairs, shelves, picture frames and anything else
that wasn’t nailed down. I then purchased 2 gallons of bubble gum pink paint and painted over the brownish walls from the “African safari” theme. I highly recommend the new paint with the built-in primer as it saves so much time and is actually cheaper than buying paint and primer.
didn’t match and I couldn’t spray paint it because it was a slippery, non-wooden surface. I was going to throw it out but then I had an idea.
favorite product in the whole wide world: Designer Duck Tape!
right this very minute your thinking OMG she spelled Duck Tape wrong. Even “Word” is telling me it’s spelled wrong. Well you can kiss my butt because Duck Tape is a brand of duct tape. Ha! This just goes to prove that if we spell something incorrectly for a long enough period of time, the manufactures will change the name for us.
shelves were picked up at rummage sales and the bedding and curtains I got at JCPenny on clearance. I made the pillow and chair covers myself. The rug was taken from the playroom and the canopy I’ve had for years. The only “regret” I have is the wallpaper. Yes, it’s beautiful and elegant and pink but it was expensive for the amount I got, it was a pain in the ass to hang and I ordered it online. Next time I will scan bargain bins at the big box home improvement stores for wallpaper.
But now that’s over, I love the room. Sometimes I live vicariously through my daughter. She now has the room I always wanted to have.
And now maybe we can have McKenzie’s Fabulous Adventure – screw Sharpay, Mac’s room is way cooler!
